ThriveFinity vs The Marketing Centre: Fractional CMO or Fixed-Scope GTM?

A fractional CMO network and a fixed-scope go-to-market studio sell different things. What each publishes about its services, terms and prices, side by side, with every fact about The Marketing Centre linked to its own website.

A fractional CMO and a fixed-price go-to-market studio both promise to sort out your marketing. You'd be buying two very different things.

One gives you a senior person, part-time, for as long as you need them. The other gives you a defined piece of work at a fixed price, finished in days. Neither is better in general. Each is better for a particular kind of problem, and plenty of companies buy the wrong one because the sales pages sound alike.

This page compares The Marketing Centre, a UK provider of fractional CMOs, with ThriveFinity, which is us. I've kept it to what each of us publishes. Where The Marketing Centre's pages are silent, the table says "not published". There's a section on when The Marketing Centre is the better pick, because for a lot of companies it will be.

In short: The Marketing Centre places a senior marketing leader in your business part-time, usually one to two days a week, with strategy and execution teams behind them and prices agreed in a consultation. ThriveFinity sells fixed-price, fixed-scope work: a signed Decision Brief for one go-to-market decision, or a 10-day Go-to-Market Build. Leadership over time, or one defined job.

Facts about The Marketing Centre come from its own website, its YouTube channel and Companies House, all checked on 10 October 2026. Services and terms change, so check its site before you decide. ThriveFinity isn't affiliated with The Marketing Centre.

Two Different Things to Buy

The Marketing Centre sells marketing leadership by the day. ThriveFinity sells decisions and builds by the job. That difference shapes everything else on this page, from how you pay to how long you're committed.

The Marketing Centre describes itself on its homepage as a provider of "Supercharged Fractional CMOs", backed by "a suite of tools, resources and AI-enabled support". Its fractional CMO page defines the role as "an experienced senior marketing leader who works with your business on a part-time or flexible basis", and says its CMOs "become embedded within the business". Companies House lists The Marketing Centre Limited as active, incorporated on 27 July 2010, with a registered office in Swindon.

ThriveFinity sells go-to-market work as defined deliverables. A Decision Brief takes one decision, such as which segment to lead with or how to position against an alternative, to a signed recommendation on a 48-hour target. A Go-to-Market Build rebuilds your positioning, website, sales deck and outbound emails in 10 days. Both have a fixed price on the site. It's a one-person company, and a named verifier signs every paid deliverable.

So the honest first question isn't which provider is better. It's whether your problem is a gap in leadership or a gap in clarity.

Side-by-Side Comparison

The table lines up what each provider publishes on the same thirteen points. The Marketing Centre's column quotes or summarises its own pages, and ThriveFinity's column comes from our service pages and published pricing.

What The Marketing Centre Publishes About How It Works

The Marketing Centre's core offer is a part-time marketing leader, with a strategy programme and an execution team you can add around them. Here's what its own pages say about each part.

The fractional CMO. Its fractional CMO page says the role "works part-time, typically one to two days per week", and that a CMO will "define your marketing strategy, set priorities, manage your team or agencies, and report directly to the CEO or board". It says each client is matched "with a senior Marketing Director from its network of 100+ experienced CMOs". The list of areas it covers is broad: positioning and messaging, lead generation, measurement, sales and marketing alignment, team leadership, agency management and board reporting.

The Marketing Centre explains the role in its own words in this short video from its YouTube channel. It's worth a minute if you've never hired a part-time executive:

Video What is a Fractional CMO (Chief Marketing Officer)?, The Marketing Centre on YouTube. The Marketing Centre's own explainer: a fractional CMO is an experienced marketing leader working part-time or on contract, giving strategy, leadership and execution without a full-time hire.

Growth Foundations. This is the strategy piece. Its Growth Foundations page calls it "a structured, eight-week programme", delivered "through a structured series of workshops and working sessions", and the FAQ on the same page says six to ten weeks. The outputs it lists include growth priorities, defined audiences and markets, a value proposition, aligned messaging and positioning, a channel strategy and "a prioritised marketing roadmap with defined next steps". That overlaps with what our Decision Brief and Go-to-Market Build cover. The format is very different, though. Theirs is a facilitated programme with your leadership team in the room.

The Activation Team. This is the execution piece. The Activation Team page lists SEO, GEO, AEO and AIO, paid and social media, email marketing and automation, campaign planning, content creation and marketing operations. It works to "a plan set by your CMO" and is "delivered on a monthly basis". Its FAQ is clear that it isn't meant to run on its own: "The Activation Team is designed to work under strategic leadership."

Two more things sit around those. The Marketing 360° Audit (price not stated) gives you "your overall marketing maturity score" and the areas to prioritise next. And Growth Centa OS is what it calls its "shared intelligence layer", which it says is "embedded within Fractional CMO engagements".

On terms, the pages are short. The fractional CMO page says it "provides flexible contracts that can be cancelled anytime, no questions asked". Its FAQ page says "most engagements begin within two to four weeks of a Discovery Call" and "most clients work with us for two years or more". On cost, the same FAQ says the price "varies based on their experience, location, and the scope of services needed", and that fractional CMOs "are typically paid on an hourly basis". I didn't find a day rate, a monthly figure or a guarantee on the pages I checked. That's normal for a provider that prices through a consultation. It just means you'll need to ask.

What Fractional Marketing Leadership Costs

The Marketing Centre doesn't publish prices, so the closest public guide is what other UK providers say the market charges. These figures aren't The Marketing Centre's prices.

PrimeWise's April 2026 guide sets out three monthly tiers by days per week. PrimeWise sells fractional CMO services itself, so read it as one provider's view of the market.

Fractional CMO monthly retainer by days per week (UK)
Fractional CMO monthly retainer by days per week (UK)
1 day a week (strategic advisory)£4,000
2 days a week (execution oversight)£7,500
3 days a week (operational embedment)£12,000

Source: PrimeWise, How Much Does a Fractional CMO Cost in the UK? 2026 Pricing Guide, 30 April 2026. Published by a firm that sells fractional CMO services. Not The Marketing Centre's prices. Treat it as indicative. Chart by ThriveFinity.

A second guide, from Leadership Services in May 2026, prices it by company size instead, from £1,795 a month for a business with £1m to £5m revenue up to £15,000 for one with £15m to £50m. It also makes a point that matters when you budget. It says to "budget separately for" the "specialist freelancers or agencies the CMO brings in for specific work". At The Marketing Centre, that execution layer is the Activation Team, priced separately through the same consultation.

PrimeWise also says "the standard minimum engagement period for a fractional CMO in the UK market is three to six months". The Marketing Centre's fractional CMO page says it "provides flexible contracts that can be cancelled anytime, no questions asked", which is shorter than the minimum PrimeWise describes. Get the notice period in writing either way.

On our side, the price is on the page. A Decision Brief is £749 and a Go-to-Market Build is £3,999, each plus applicable taxes, with no term. I cover the cost trade-offs between the models in more depth in fractional CMO vs strategy consultant vs fixed-price GTM.

When The Marketing Centre Is the Better Choice

The Marketing Centre is the better choice when your gap is senior marketing leadership that has to show up every week. These are the situations where I'd point you there rather than to us.

  • Nobody senior owns marketing. If there's no one to set the plan, manage the budget, run the agencies and report to the board, a fractional CMO fills that seat. We don't. Our work ends when the deliverable is signed.
  • You need someone in the room. Its CMOs attend leadership meetings and, in its words, take "strategic ownership". A document can't sit on your leadership team. A person can.
  • You want strategy and execution from one provider. The Activation Team covers paid and social, email, content, SEO and GEO and marketing operations, all under the same CMO. We build the go-to-market assets once, and you or another team run them afterwards.
  • You want a facilitated process with your team. Growth Foundations runs as workshops over six to ten weeks. If your leadership team needs to build the strategy together and own it, a facilitated programme does something a 48-hour brief can't.
  • You want someone local. It lists regional directors across England, Scotland and Wales. We're a one-person company based in India and we work remotely.
  • The need will last a year or more. If you expect to want senior help for the long run, an ongoing relationship with the same person makes more sense than a series of one-off jobs.

One of The Marketing Centre's regional directors, Christine Durkin, sums up how to choose in this short clip from its channel:

Video How to choose the right fractional CMO, The Marketing Centre on YouTube. The Marketing Centre's regional director Christine Durkin on choosing a fractional CMO: the right person, the right skills, the right culture, at the right time.

The trade-off is the one that comes with any retained leadership role. Price and scope are agreed in a consultation, and the value depends heavily on the person you're matched with. Meet them before you sign.

When ThriveFinity Is the Better Choice

ThriveFinity fits when you have one clear go-to-market job and want it done at a known price, with every claim in it checked. Here's what that looks like.

  • You face one decision, not an ongoing function. Which segment to lead with, how to price a new offer, how to position against a bigger competitor. A Decision Brief (£749, 48-hour target) gives you a signed seven-block Decision Card, an options matrix that includes doing nothing, and a 90-day action plan.
  • You already have people to run marketing, but the message is wrong. The Go-to-Market Build (£3,999, 10 days) gives your team a positioning audit, a messaging framework, a 5-page website, a 20-slide deck and a 3-email sequence that all tell the same story.
  • You want a fixed price and no term. Both are one-off purchases. The Build is paid half up front and half on delivery.
  • You want evidence behind every claim. Every claim is sourced and signed off by a named verifier in a signed evidence record before anything ships. If you find an unsupported claim or factual error within 30 days, you get your money back in full. Our methodology page sets out the grading.

That last point matters more than it sounds. In a Gartner survey of 632 B2B buyers, run in August and September 2024 and published in June 2025, 69% reported inconsistencies between what a supplier's website said and what its sellers told them. A site, deck and email sequence built from one checked messaging framework is designed to close that gap.

We're not the right choice if you need someone to lead your marketing team, sit on your leadership team or manage your agencies month after month. We don't run ads, social or email campaigns either. A fractional CMO with an execution team behind them will serve you better there.

How to Decide

Most of the decision comes down to whether you're short of leadership time or short of a clear answer. Work through these questions in order.

  1. Is there a senior person who owns marketing today? If not, start with leadership.
  2. Can you name the one decision that's holding you back? If you can, a fixed-scope piece of work will usually settle it faster than a retainer.
  3. Do your website, sales deck and outbound emails tell the same story? If they don't, fix the assets before you hire people to push them harder.
  4. Will you still need senior help in a year? If yes, a long relationship with one person beats a series of projects.
  5. What's your budget shape: a monthly cost you can sustain, or a one-off spend? Get each provider's figure in writing.
  6. What happens if the work is wrong? Ask about guarantees, notice periods and who signs off the output.

The answer often isn't either-or. This founder's question on Reddit is a fair summary of how many owners end up buying the wrong kind of help:

That's one person's view, and the poster works on the sales side of marketing. It's still a fair warning. Decide what kind of problem you have before you decide who to hire.

How We Wrote This Comparison

This page names a competitor, so UK advertising rules apply to it. Section 3 of the CAP Code says a comparison with an identifiable competitor must "compare products meeting the same needs or intended for the same purpose" and must "objectively compare one or more material, relevant, verifiable and representative feature". The same conditions sit in regulation 4 of the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008, which also bars comparisons that discredit or denigrate a competitor.

The "same need" here is getting go-to-market strategy and execution help for a B2B company. The two providers meet it in different ways, and I've tried to show both fairly. Every fact about The Marketing Centre links to the page it came from, and every check is dated. I haven't repeated any of its client results, testimonials or rankings, because I can't verify them. The CMA's guidance on fake reviews sets out how businesses should comply with consumer protection law on reviews, so we don't quote or average anyone's reviews here, ours included.

If you'd like to see what our own deliverables look like before comparing, the anonymised samples are public. Other head-to-head pages are listed on our comparisons hub.

Whoever you choose, be clear about the job first. A great leader can't fix a decision nobody has made, and a great brief can't run your marketing for a year.

❓ Common Questions

Is ThriveFinity a fractional CMO service?
No. We don't place a marketing leader in your business. We sell fixed-scope work: a Decision Brief that settles one go-to-market decision, and a Go-to-Market Build that produces your positioning, website, sales deck and outbound emails in 10 days. If you need someone to lead marketing week after week, a fractional CMO provider such as The Marketing Centre is built for that.
How much does The Marketing Centre charge?
It doesn't publish prices on the pages we checked on 10 October 2026. Its FAQ says the cost varies with experience, location and scope, and invites you to book a free consultation. It also says fractional CMOs are typically paid on an hourly basis. Ask for the day or hourly rate, the expected days per month and the notice terms in writing.
How much does a fractional CMO cost in the UK?
Two UK provider guides published in 2026 put monthly retainers at £4,000 to £12,000 for one to three days a week (PrimeWise, April 2026) and £1,795 to £15,000 depending on company size (Leadership Services, May 2026). Both firms sell the service, and neither is The Marketing Centre, so treat the ranges as indicative.
Can I cancel a Marketing Centre contract?
Its fractional CMO page says it provides flexible contracts that can be cancelled anytime, no questions asked. Its FAQ also says most clients stay for two years or more. Confirm the notice period in your own contract before you sign, because the page doesn't state one.
What is Growth Foundations?
Growth Foundations is The Marketing Centre's strategy programme. Its page describes a structured series of workshops and working sessions over about eight weeks, and its FAQ says six to ten weeks. The outputs it lists include growth priorities, target audiences, a value proposition, messaging and positioning, a channel strategy and a prioritised roadmap.
Should I hire a fractional CMO or buy a Decision Brief?
Ask whether you have one decision to make or a function to run. One decision, such as which segment to lead with or how to position against an alternative, suits a Decision Brief. A marketing function that needs a senior owner every week, managing a team, agencies and board reporting, suits a fractional CMO.
Can I use both?
Yes. Some companies settle a positioning question or rebuild their site and deck first, then bring in a fractional leader to run marketing on that foundation. Others hire the leader first and let them decide what to buy. Neither order is wrong. It depends on whether your gap is clarity or capacity.
Does The Marketing Centre do execution as well as strategy?
Yes, through its Activation Team, which works under your fractional CMO. Its page lists SEO, GEO, AEO and AIO, paid and social media, email and automation, campaign planning, content creation and marketing operations. Its FAQ says the Activation Team is designed to work under strategic leadership rather than on its own.
Is ThriveFinity affiliated with The Marketing Centre?
No. The two companies are unrelated. Everything this page says about The Marketing Centre comes from its own public website, its YouTube channel or Companies House, each linked and dated, so you can check it yourself.
What if something on this page is out of date?
Email om@thrivefinity.uk. We check every competitor fact at least every 90 days, and we respond to corrections within 5 working days under our errata policy.
