ThriveFinity vs Olivine for B2B Positioning and Go-to-Market

For a B2B company with Olivine on its shortlist, this shows how a product marketing agency and a fixed-scope studio differ on scope, terms and published prices, and which one fits the job you have.

Pick Olivine if you're a B2B SaaS or tech company that wants product marketers working with you month after month, on positioning, launches, sales enablement and the website, either as an agency team or a fractional consultant for a set number of hours a week. Pick ThriveFinity, which is us, if you want one defined piece of work, such as a go-to-market decision or your positioning rebuilt into a site, a deck and emails, at a price you can see first, and you'll run it yourself afterwards.

The two overlap more than most pairs on our comparisons hub. Both write positioning and messaging, both cover go-to-market strategy, and both turn it into website copy and sales material. The difference is the shape of the engagement and who it's built for. I'm writing for one of the two firms, so I've kept to what each of us publishes and given Olivine its own section on when it's the better choice.

Facts about Olivine come from its own website, checked on 31 October 2026. Services and prices change, so check its site before you decide. We have a commercial interest in this comparison, and ThriveFinity isn't affiliated with Olivine. Where its pages are silent, the table says "not published". That doesn't mean it doesn't offer the thing. Ask.

An Ongoing Product Marketing Team or a Fixed Build

Olivine sells product marketing capacity over time. We sell a defined output once.

Olivine calls itself a "product marketing agency for B2B SaaS" on its homepage. Its About page says it was founded in 2016 by Raechel Lambert and Ashley Wilson, and describes the firm as a collective of product marketers, copywriters and designers who specialise in B2B SaaS. You can buy from it in three ways: an agency team, a fractional consultant for 5 to 40 hours a week, or a self-serve programme called Playbooks with templates and office hours.

ThriveFinity is a one-person company, ThriveFinity (OPC) Private Limited, registered in Chennai, India, serving B2B companies in the UK, the US, the UAE and elsewhere. The piece of our work that overlaps most with Olivine is the Go-to-Market Build: a positioning audit and messaging framework, then a 5-page website, a 20-slide sales deck and a 3-email sequence written from it, in 2 weeks. Before that, a Decision Brief can settle one go-to-market decision, such as which segment to lead with.

So the useful question is whether you need a team or a result. If product marketing is a function you'll need every month, for launches and for sales, a team makes sense. If you need the message fixed once and everything rebuilt from it, a fixed build may be enough.

Side-by-Side Comparison

The table lines up what each firm publishes on the same fourteen points. Olivine's column quotes or summarises its own pages as they read on 31 October 2026, and ours comes from our service pages and published pricing.

What Olivine Publishes About Its Work

Olivine publishes a clear list of services and unusually specific terms for its fractional work. It doesn't publish prices or timelines for agency projects.

Its go-to-market consulting page says the service helps B2B SaaS companies build a clear GTM plan "from ICP definition and positioning to channel strategy and execution roadmap". It lists six areas: strategy development, segmentation and targeting, product launch strategy, channel and demand strategy, pricing and packaging, and sales and marketing alignment. The page names no standard length or price. Its FAQ defines a go-to-market strategy as covering target audience, positioning, messaging, pricing, channels and sales strategy, which is a fair definition. Our go-to-market strategy guide covers the same ground, with a template.

Its positioning and messaging page lists positioning, a messaging framework and guide, vision and mission, value proposition, website and product messaging, and sales messaging. Its FAQ describes the method: discovery and strategy through a series of product marketing workshops, after which its consultants support your in-house team. Website design and copy, brand identity and sales enablement are separate services on its agency page.

How an agency engagement starts is set out on its How We Work page:

we like to start with a series of strategic workshops and a test project to see if there is a good fit

Olivine, How We Work · olivinemarketing.com

After that, the page says it proposes "a monthly retainer model with a defined throughput where we agree on priorities and deliverables", with one of its directors and a team of consultants, and weekly status meetings. It also says it takes on a small number of clients each year. I'd take the test project seriously. It's a low-risk way to see the work before you commit to a retainer.

The fractional page is the most detailed. It offers vetted consultants for 5, 10 or 20 hours a week and says what each level is good for. Billing is monthly and upfront on net 30 terms, renewal is month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice, for any reason. Rates aren't published. The page says they vary by seniority and scope.

What I couldn't find on the pages I checked: a price or typical length for agency or go-to-market projects, agency contract terms, a guarantee, or a headquarters address. Its Playbooks pricing page also gives two different sets of figures, so confirm the price at checkout if you go that way.

How Each One Measures Results

Neither firm publishes a standard results measure for go-to-market work, so ask both how they'll judge success before you start.

Olivine's pages describe the work in terms of outputs and alignment: personas, a positioning and messaging guide, a roadmap, website content and sales collateral, with weekly status meetings to track progress. I didn't find a stated success metric or reporting format for agency engagements. That's common for product marketing, where much of the value shows up in sales conversations and launches months later.

We measure at handover and give you a way to judge the decision afterwards. Every claim in a Go-to-Market Build traces to a source in a signed evidence record, and the site, deck and emails are checked against one messaging framework. The Decision Brief sets kill criteria, the signals that would tell you within its 90-day plan that the decision was wrong. Our methodology page explains how evidence is graded.

Buyers increasingly test before they commit. Forrester's State of Business Buying, 2026 says more than 60% of business buyers now make use of a trial. Services rarely come with one, so the nearest thing is a small, bounded first piece of work: Olivine's test project, or our free First Signal and a fixed-price Brief.

The typical buying decision now includes 13 internal stakeholders and nine external influencers

Forrester, The State of Business Buying, 2026, press release · forrester.com, 21 January 2026

That number is the other reason consistency matters. If thirteen people at your buyer read your site, your deck and your emails separately, all three need to say the same thing.

When Olivine Is the Better Choice

Olivine is the better choice when you're a B2B SaaS or tech company that needs product marketing done continuously, not once. These are the situations where I'd point you there rather than to us.

  • You need product marketing as a function. Launches, sales enablement, competitive intelligence and research, every month, run by people who do only that.
  • You're a Series A or Series B SaaS company that isn't ready for a full-time head of product marketing. Its fractional page says that's who the service suits best.
  • You want flexible hours with short notice. Its fractional terms are month to month with 30 days' notice.
  • You need brand identity design or a fully designed website. It lists both. Our Build is a 5-page site written from your messaging, and we don't design brand identities.
  • You want customer and market research done for you. Olivine lists it as a service. Our Decision Brief rests on graded evidence and four simulated buyer roles, which is useful but isn't the same as talking to your customers.
  • You want to learn to do it yourself. Its Playbooks programme and free messaging course are built for that.
  • You may hire a product marketer later. It runs product marketing recruitment and a contract-to-hire option.

The trade-off is the usual one for an agency or a fractional hire. Rates are agreed privately, and the quality of the work depends on the people you're matched with. Use the test project or the first month to find out.

When ThriveFinity Is the Better Choice

We're the better choice when you need the message fixed once, everything rebuilt from it, and a known price before you start.

  • You want the price on the page. The Decision Brief is £749 ($999), and the Go-to-Market Build starts from £3,999 ($5,299), priced by a scoped estimate within one business day.
  • You need it done in two weeks, as one job, rather than over a retainer.
  • Your site, deck and emails tell different stories, and you want all three written from one messaging framework at the same time.
  • You're not a software company. Olivine's pages are written for B2B SaaS and tech. Ours aren't limited to a sector.
  • You want every claim in your materials sourced and signed, with a correction within 5 working days if a cited source doesn't support one, and no fee for a deliverable we can't fix.
  • You also care what AI tools say about you. We sell AI search work alongside go-to-market work, and Olivine's agency page doesn't list it.

If you aren't sure whether your positioning is the real problem, my guide to spotting wrong B2B positioning has the signs and some quick tests you can run before you talk to either firm.

Questions to Ask Any Provider

Ask both firms the same questions and get the answers in writing. They're ordered by how much they'll change the decision.

  1. What exactly will we have at the end of the first month, or the first project, and in what format?
  2. What does it cost, and is that a fixed fee, a monthly retainer or an hourly rate?
  3. What's the minimum term, the notice period and the billing schedule?
  4. Who does the work, how senior are they, and can we meet them first?
  5. How many workshops or interviews do you need from our team, and when?
  6. How will you check the positioning against real buyers, and what evidence will we see?
  7. What happens if a deliverable is wrong, or doesn't fit how we actually sell?

For the longer version, read our guide to fixed-price go-to-market services. It's written for UK buyers but the questions apply anywhere.

How We Wrote This Comparison

This page names a competitor, so UK advertising rules apply to it. Section 3 of the CAP Code says a comparison with an identifiable competitor must "compare products meeting the same needs or intended for the same purpose" and must objectively compare features that are material, relevant, verifiable and representative. Regulation 4 of the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations 2008 sets the same conditions and bars comparisons that discredit or denigrate a competitor.

The shared need here is getting a B2B go-to-market plan, positioning and the assets built from it. Every fact about Olivine links to the page it came from and was checked on 31 October 2026. Its site names clients, gives client counts and shows case studies and member stories. I haven't repeated any of them, because I can't verify them and quoting them would only repeat its marketing.

Why this firm? When we asked ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity who can help a B2B startup in the US with its go-to-market strategy three times each on 31 October 2026, Olivine was named in 3 of 12 answers. ThriveFinity was named in none. We ran the test through each provider's API, and it measures how often a firm is mentioned, nothing about the quality of its work.

Where ThriveFinity Fits

We fit when you want one go-to-market job done as a defined piece of work with a known price.

  • First Signal (free, under an hour): a check on your positioning. You can run the free First Signal before you speak to anyone.
  • Decision Brief (£749 ($999), 48-hour target): offer validation and one signed go-to-market decision with a 90-day plan, credited in full to a Build booked within 30 days.
  • Go-to-Market Build (from £3,999 ($5,299), 2 weeks): positioning audit, messaging framework, a 5-page website, a 20-slide deck and a 3-email sequence. 50% advance once scope is agreed, 50% before handover.

We're not the right choice if you need product marketing every month, launch management, brand identity design, primary customer research or help hiring a product marketer. An agency like Olivine will serve you better there. You can see what our work looks like in our anonymised samples, and every comparison we've published is on the comparisons hub.

❓ Common Questions

Does Olivine publish its prices?
Partly. Its pricing page lists the self-serve Playbooks programme at $99 and $499, and its FAQ on the same page gives a different monthly figure, so check before you buy. For agency and fractional work it doesn't publish rates. The fractional page says rates vary by seniority and scope and that it matches you with a consultant whose rate fits your budget. Checked 31 October 2026.
How does an Olivine fractional engagement work?
From its fractional page: you're matched with a vetted product marketing consultant for 5, 10 or 20 hours a week, backed by the agency team. Billing is monthly and upfront on net 30 terms, it renews month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice. A contract-to-hire option carries a 15% referral fee on the first year's salary.
Can I use Olivine and ThriveFinity together?
Yes. The overlap is the positioning and the first set of assets. If you want those done once, at a known price, you can buy a Go-to-Market Build and then bring in a fractional product marketer to run launches and sales enablement from it. If you want one team to own product marketing month after month, an agency retainer covers both.
